Meet Mike Abron
Two years ago when IBY decided to put Martial Arts back into our schedule, we reached out to the Irving Park YMCA for potential staff. Mike Abron came highly recommended. We immediately offered up a Family Martial Arts program. The class was a hit. As a matter of fact, not only were families signing up for Mike's class, but they were also requesting private classes and for Mike to instruct Martial Arts at Birthday parties.
After observing this immediate draw to Mike's Family Martial Arts, we developed Youth Takewondo, Youth Martial Arts, Little Warriors and the latest Teen Self-Defense. All classes are popular and highly attended. Mike's magnetism with the youth is magical. The kids are attentive, while smiling and having fun. The Youth Takewondo class hit an all-time high of 22 participants.
Mike has been practicing Martial Arts for 24 years and teaching for 13 years. He is trained in nine different methods. His certification includes a Masters Certification in Hapkido, Blackbelt for Taekwondo, and he is a founder of a street self-defense system. Mike's background includes part-time police and celebrity bodyguard work. Mike also became an ordained minister 3 years ago.
When asked what Mike loves most about his classes, he answered, "training and exposing participants to life experience".
If you have not yet checked out Mike's Martial Arts programs, we invite you to do so.
