1. Proper attire is required for men and women. Shirts and clean shoes are to be worn at all times.
2. Please be courteous and wipe down equipment after use.
3. Teens (age 12-15) may use the Wellness Center upon completion of the Teen Commit to be Fit program. No one under 16 is allowed in the "free weight area". No children under 12 are allowed in the Wellness Center.
4. Cell Phone usage allowed in reception area only.
5. We do not allow outside personal trainers to train clients in the YMCA.
6. Re-stack your weights when finished.
7. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

ActivTrax offers an optional nutrition component that complements your workout routine. Once you enter your personal information, it provides a weekly meal plan to help you meet your goals. It will even give you a shopping list that you can print and take to the grocery store.

For a fitness program to meet your individual needs, you need individualized coaching. During our 12-week program, your Fit Coach will meet with you to determine your lifestyle, schedule and fitness goals.
To sign up for the Commit to be Fit program, simply stop by the wellness desk and schedule your first appointment with your Fit Coach. This program, along with customized workouts for ActivTrax will help you be on your way to adapting a healthier lifestyle!
The Grayslake YMCA offers a wide variety of fitness classes. A current schedule can be picked up at the member relations desk. New this session. ALL of our ADULT group fitness classes are FREE to members. Classes must achieve minimum enrollment standards to run. If a specialty group exercise class is offered, and requires a fee, it will be indicated on our center schedule.
Class schedule subject to change without notice. Certified Instructors teach to all fitness levels. Modifications are made to allow for a progression of fitness. Please inform the instructors of any health conditions and/or concerns to ensure a safe, effective exercise class.
The following is a listing and description of our Group Fitness classes:
Excellent class for all fitness levels to strengthen abdominals, buttocks and legs. This class is designed for all ages to challenge the whole body.
Great muscle conditioning and strengthening class with the use of assorted dumbbell weights. Firming and toning benefits for all body shapes. Heart rate is increased due to the resistance of weights and low-impact moves.
Whether you are an avid exerciser or just starting, this class for new moms and moms-to-be combines cardiovascular, strength training, flexibility and balance specifically for the pregnant or post-pregnant participant's changing physical needs. Certified "Moms in Motion" Instructor. Classes designed for various levels. Fun, fitness and safety are key. Medical clearance required for participation. Reading materials provided.
A challenging interval workout that combines step with muscle conditioning by using xertubes, or weights. Designed to meet the needs of all fitness levels.
This is a high-intensity cardio workout performed at your own level. Set to music, the work is done on a stationary bike built to look like a road racing bicycle. Classes offered for both the beginner and advanced level.
A step class that will firm, tone and help decrease body fat to increase endurance for all fitness levels.
Yoga is designed to develop flexibility, health and relaxation of the mind. It stretches each area of the body, loosens joints and muscles for all fitness levels. Classes available for both beginner and advanced participants.
Gain stronger abs and lower back. Mat-based Pilates strengthens abdominal and lower back areas of the body through a series of movements on the floor.
This is a more advanced class working on all stabilizer muscles in the abdomen, lower back and gluteal region. Core conditioning is designed to challenge your entire core area.

Ages 7-Adult - A Korean art of self-defense and physical conditioning in which self-confidence and self-discipline are developed. Class is designed to accommodate ages 7 and up as well as adults. See Member Relations Desk for schedule and fees.

This class is great for toning, shaping and strengthening muscles. Come join us in this very easy to follow workout.
Whatever your age, exercise should be part of your life. This class will work the entire body. Class will begin with a warm-up, incorporate cardiovascular, weight training and muscle toning exercises throughout and end with gentle stretching.
This class is for those who want to lose weight and get fit in a comfortable environment. This hour-long class will consist of two parts - 30 minutes of fun, fat burning exercise and 30 minutes of informal group discussion.
A more advanced class, working all stabilizer muscles in the abdomen, low back and glute region. This class is designed to challenge all ages and the whole core!
Class time will be split between an energetic, calorie-burning step workout and a weight-bearing, tone-and-tightening workout for all fitness levels.
This class will combine forms of martial arts, self-defense techniques and kickboxing. This class is taught by an instructor with 39 years of experience, 6th-degree black belt.
Challenging workout that combines muscle conditioning and toning exercises to work the entire core.
Teens ages 12-17 are required to complete the Teen Commit to be Fit program, and complete an orientation on cardiovascular and all selectorized weight equipment. The Commit-to-be-Fit program for teens consists of four separate appointments based on the goals and time frame of the individual.
Teens ages 16-17 have the option of going through the Fast Track. Teens ages 14 or 15, after completion of the Teen Commit to be Fit program and proof of passing the exam, are permitted to use the Free Weight Room based on the following conditions (No exceptions).
Teens who are interested in the free-weight option MUST set up an appointment with the Fitness Coordinator to go over the conditions and fill out the appropriate paperwork.
