Youth Specialty Programs

Hey Kids! Check out what we've got going on. Spend some time with us.

Hey Kids, come join us for the third annual Greater LaGrange YMCA Mini-Pilgrim Pacer. This 10-yard dash for Little Pilgrims (3-6 years) will be held immediately following the Pilgrim Pacer on Sunday, Nov 21. There is no fee for this race, so run off to join us for some family fun.

Location: YMCA Activity Room
Learn the basics of infant care, baby sitting techniques and step-by-step instruction of what to do in an emer-gency situation. This is an American Red Cross class.

*Please bring a sack lunch.

Location: YMCA Activity Room
Have your child learn the basics of safety in the home in this American Red Cross class. Tips on self-care like answering the phone or door and what to do in case of a fire or other emergency. Parents are welcome to join child for class.

This program is an initiative of the Women's Sports Foundation, founded by Billie Jean King, and reinforces positive behaviors such as body image and self-esteem while incorporating physical activity.

Please join us for an Open House from 3:30-5:30pm on Tuesday, Aug 24.

NEW! Want to hang out with other kids your age? Enjoy supervised game time! Play cards, board games and even some interactive games. SPACE IS LIMITED! First-come, first-served basis.

HEY PARENTS! WORK OUT AND KNOW THAT YOUR OLDER KIDS ARE HAVING SOME FUN! THEY WILL ASK TO COME BACK FOR MORE.

Two exciting holiday events have been planned for your child/children. GLG YMCA members are welcome to drop the kids in the Kids' Zone for three hours of free time. (Children must be potty-trained) Snacks will be served at both events.

Howlin' Halloween, Friday, Oct. 15:
Spooky tricks and fabulous treats will delight the children who show up for this magical day dressed in their Halloween costumes. Fun crafts, trick-or-treating around the building, holiday games and a G-rated Halloween film will be featured.

Cheerful Christmas, Friday, Dec. 10:
Your loved one will create a special gift for mom or dad, learn and sing numerous holiday songs and fingerplays and enjoy Christmas games with other children, while discovering the true meaning of this magical season.

Each afternoon runs from 1 to 4pm and costs $12 for one child and $20 for two children.

Reading can be more fun when you have someone to share it with, so come join other kids ages 10 and up to read and discuss a very interesting book titled "Diamond Willow." The story is about a native American girl who lives in Alaska and tells the tale of the wonderful and magical animals she befriends. The book is easy to read and delightfully written. Registration is necessary so we can acquire enough books from area libraries. In addition to discussion time, there also will be a snack and related craft project.

The club will meet in the Preschool Classroom from 3:30-4:15pm Mondays, Sep 20 and Oct 4. If there is an interest in continuing the class, the children will choose the next book to read.

Bring the whole family to the Chalet pool and invite the kids' friends too! Spend time in the water playing with each other, having fun and staying healthy. Those under 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required for Friends and Family Swim day. Space is limited so register early.

(Age 3-10) Wear your PJs and bring your blanket or sleeping bag so you can snuggle down to watch a movie with your friends. Fun snacks will be served.
